About Me

I am an award winning playwright, author and documentary film executive producer as well as a 16-year veteran of the interactive entertainment industry as a narrative designer. I have worked on projects for Vivendi Games, Warner Brothers Games/Snowblind Studios, Larger Than Life Productions and Machinima.com.

My debut novella Stolen from Gypsies has been compared to The Princess Bride and Monty Python’s Holy Grail and is available from White Cloud Press (reissued on Kindle and Nook). My historical fiction action/adventure Sons of Zeus will be published in 2013 from Thomas Dunne Books (first in The Warrior Trilogy set in ancient Greece).

I began my career as a teenager when my play Sparks In The Park (starring Cynthia Nixon of Sex In The City) won The New York Young Playwrights Festival. Praised by New York Magazine as “Outlandishly funny,” the play is in its twenty-fifth year of printing from Samuel French, Inc., and has been performed all over the world from South Africa to Kansas City, Missouri.

I worked for The Gregory C. Carr Foundation, a non-profit based in Washington, D.C., where I was media director on The Gorongosa Project, an ongoing forty million dollar wildlife restoration and human rights program in Mozambique.

I was also co-executive producer of feature-length documentaries for Arrowstreet Films of Cambridge, MA, including: Protagonist (a Sundance jury selectee and shown at Hot Docs, Full Frame and the Atlanta Film Festival where it won the Documentary Grand Jury Prize); and Neither Memory Nor Magic (narrated by Patricia Clarkson and featuring the voice of Viggo Mortensen).

I live in the Pacific Northwest with my wife and children where I’m trying to live as much like a Hobbit as possible (minus the pipe smoking). Follow me on Twitter @ShireWisdom.

I’m represented by Adam Chromy of Movable Type Management.
